Export your book as a print-ready PDF
This shows you how to export a completed book as a PDF ready for Amazon KDP or print-on-demand.
Before you start
- Your book must be in "completed" status with at least some pages generated.
- The export uses your book's configured trim size (set during creation).
Steps

Open your book from the My Books page.

In the book editor, click the Download button (top-right area).

Choose your export format:
- KDP PDF — 300 DPI, full bleed, blank backing pages included. Upload directly to KDP.
- KDP PDF (Classic Layout) — for picture books: text on left, image on right.
- Etsy PDF — optimized for digital download (150 DPI, under 20MB file size).

Wait for the PDF to build. A toast notification shows progress.
- Typical time: 1-3 minutes depending on page count.

The PDF opens automatically in a new browser tab when ready.
What to expect
A print-ready PDF containing:
- Front cover (full page)
- Front matter page (if you added one)
- All completed pages at your trim size
- Answer key section at the back (puzzle books only)
- Back cover (last page)
For KDP exports, blank pages are inserted between content pages as required by KDP's printing specs.
Common issues
Export timed out Exports have a 3-minute safety timeout. If it fails, click "Reset Export" and try again. Large books (40+ pages) may need a second attempt.
PDF won't open / blank tab Check your browser's pop-up blocker. The PDF opens in a new tab — some browsers block this by default.
Missing pages in the PDF Only pages with status "completed" are included. Check the book editor for any failed pages and regenerate them before exporting.
