How to create a picture book

This shows you how to create an illustrated story book with text and images on every page.

Before you start

  • You need credits (1 credit per page).
  • Picture books support all 8 art styles in full color.

Steps

  1. Click New Book from the sidebar.

  2. Tell Rosie you want a picture book. Examples:

    • "A bedtime story about a bunny who's afraid of the dark, for ages 3-5"
    • "An adventure picture book about a girl exploring a magical forest"
  3. Choose a story vibe when prompted:

    • Adventure, Funny & Silly, Bedtime, Mystery, Heartwarming, Learning Fun, or Special Day.
  4. Select your art style and trim size.

    • Picture books look great in 8.5x8.5 (square) or 8.5x11.
  5. Optionally assign a character from your character library for consistent appearances across pages.

  6. Confirm and generate. Rosie writes the story text and generates matching illustrations for every page.

What to expect

A complete picture book with:

  • AI-written narrative text on each page (age-appropriate for your target audience)
  • Full-color illustrations matching the story
  • Front and back covers

You can edit both the story text and image prompts after generation from the book editor.

Common issues

Story text doesn't fit the illustration Edit the story text from the book editor — click the pencil icon next to any page's text. You can also edit the image prompt and regenerate the illustration separately.

I want text on a separate page from the image Use the "Classic Layout" export option when exporting. This puts text on the left page and the illustration on the right.
