How to choose which puzzle types appear in your book

This shows you how to control the mix of puzzle types in your activity book — from presets to fine-tuned manual control.

Before you start

  • You're creating a new puzzle book or hybrid book via the New Book chat.
  • Puzzle mix is set during book creation and applies to the entire book.

Steps

  1. During book creation, when Rosie asks about puzzle preferences, you'll see the Puzzle Mix panel.

  2. Choose a preset for a quick start:

    • Balanced — equal weight to all 26 types
    • Word-heavy — mostly word searches, crosswords, word scrambles, cryptograms
    • Maze-heavy — lots of mazes, dot-to-dots, picture paths
    • Visual-heavy — spot-the-difference, hidden objects, shadow matching
    • Math-heavy — number pyramids, balance scales, picture math, diamond math
  3. Or use manual sliders to set individual weights for each puzzle type.

    • Weight is relative, not a page count. A type at weight 20 appears roughly twice as often as one at weight 10.
    • Set any type to 0 to exclude it entirely.
  4. Note the age filter: some puzzle types (Cryptogram, Word Ladder, Crack the Code, Diamond Math) require reading or math skills and are hidden when you select ages 3-5.

What to expect

The generation system uses weighted random selection. In a 30-page book with balanced weights across 26 types, each type will appear roughly 1 time. For shorter books, increase weights on your preferred types and set others to 0.

Common issues

A puzzle type I selected didn't show up With many types at similar weights and a low page count, some types won't be picked. Increase the page count or zero out types you don't want to improve odds for your favorites.

I want ONLY mazes Set maze to any positive number and all other sliders to 0.
