How to create a character with AI chat
This shows you how to describe a character in a conversation and have the AI generate it — no reference image needed.
Before you start
- No image required. You describe the character and the AI creates it.
- The process uses a chat interface similar to book creation.
Steps

Go to Characters in the sidebar.

Click Add Character.

Select the From Text tab.

Describe your character in the chat box. Examples:
- "A friendly dragon who loves baking cookies, green scales, wearing an apron"
- "A 7-year-old girl with curly red hair and freckles, adventurous"

The AI will ask follow-up questions to refine the design — answer them to get a better result.

Once the AI has enough detail, it automatically creates the character and starts generating art style variations.
What to expect
The AI produces a detailed character prompt from your conversation, creates the character, and generates 10 art style variations (5 color + 5 B&W). This takes 2-5 minutes after the chat concludes.
The character appears in your library with a "Generating styles..." badge until all variations are ready.
Common issues
The AI keeps asking questions Be specific about appearance details: colors, clothing, accessories, body shape. The more detail you give upfront, the fewer follow-ups needed.
Generated character doesn't match what I described Edit the character description from the detail view and re-create. Text-generated characters can't have their art styles retried — you'd need to create a new character with a refined description.
