How to create a puzzle or activity book

This shows you how to create an activity book filled with puzzles — word searches, mazes, crosswords, sudoku, and 22 other puzzle types — each with auto-generated answer keys.

Before you start

  • You need credits (1 credit = 1 puzzle page).
  • Puzzle books work best at 20-50 pages.

Steps

  1. Click New Book from the sidebar.

  2. Tell Rosie you want a puzzle book. Example prompts:

    • "A dinosaur puzzle book for kids ages 6-8, 30 pages"
    • "An adult activity book with word searches and cryptograms, 40 pages"
  3. When Rosie asks for details, select Puzzle Book or Activity Book as the type.

  4. Choose your puzzle mix — how much of each puzzle type appears:

    • Pick a preset (Balanced, Word-heavy, Maze-heavy, Visual-heavy, Math-heavy)
    • Or use the manual sliders to set weights for each of the 26 puzzle types
  5. Set age-appropriate options:

    • Age range affects difficulty and which puzzles are available.
    • Some puzzles (Cryptogram, Word Ladder, Diamond Math) require reading ability and are hidden for ages 3-5.
  6. Confirm and generate. Puzzles are created in batches of 4 pages at a time.

What to expect

A completed puzzle book where every puzzle is uniquely generated (not pulled from a template library). Each puzzle includes validated solution data, and the exported PDF automatically includes a full answer key section at the back.

Common issues

Some puzzle types didn't appear Puzzle selection is weighted random. If you set a type to weight 10 among 26 types, it may not appear in a short (15-page) book. Increase the weight or the page count.

Generation is slower than coloring books Puzzle generation involves additional quality validation (crossing ratios, solvability checks, deduplication). A 30-page puzzle book typically takes 5-10 minutes.
